D&I Tool began in 1988 as a family-run business that specialized in modifying cutting tools for several Houston-based oil companies. D&I’s success quickly allowed it to outgrow the original shop and move into a large, modern facility adjacent to George W. Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. This facility has allowed us to greatly expand our product offerings while simultaneously increasing our customer base, tool tolerances, and quality.
To meet the demand for larger and more complicated tools, D&I rose to the challenge by purchasing five Walter Helitronic Power Universal Grinding Machines. These machines give D&I the capability to produce virtually any type of cutting tool to meet the demanding needs of a wide variety of customer markets. We are capable of manufacturing and regrinding the following tools:
• Solid carbide end mills
• Solid carbide end mills with radius
• Solid carbide end mills, ballnose, high performance
• Solid carbide form tools & HSS
• Step tools
• Step drills
Through our modern manufacturing processes, we are able to offer tools of the highest quality. All tools are verified on a Walter Heli Toolcheck and inspection reports are available for any tool we produce. This allows us to keep our tolerances to as little as 0.0002”. This combination of variety and quality has key in the growth of D&I and has allowed us to expand well beyond the oil fields of Houston. We now service a broad spectrum of manufacturing industries throughout the US and around the world. By offering turn around times of as little as one week, we are providing the tools that power manufactures across the globe.
